There was some discussion regarding the minutes and some clarification that we would not be receiving the Parklane Funds this year as expected however we did receive the amount for last year and the exemption from paying our lanebed and tournament assessments. Pat Robinson has stepped down as President of Greenwood and the new President is Darlene Green. Some discussion arose regarding dress code for tournaments with the following motion being put forth.
Motion ; Tournaments would follow all C5 rules and regulations with the exception of a slightly relaxed dress code which would be as follows: all pants would be acceptable with the exception of leggings, stirrups, jeans and shorts. Collared Golf Shirt would still remain.

No further business arising from the previous minutes so the following motion was presented.

Motion put forth by: Sandy MacPherson
Seconded by: Darrell Baily

Next was the treasurer’s report. As we are only part way through the year the information was brief. We currently have 5880.00 in the bank and that included the payment of the chocolate bars purchased for fundraising and the Performance Bond, 1st nights deposit on Hotel rooms and National Open Pins. Still to be deducted was the SAGM expenses. It was mentioned that these would be 1400.88 but this was not yet documented for the treasurer to include in the report. Also no funds have been received in payment for the chocolate bars that are out for sale. A portion of these proceeds will go to the KHP of which we must submit 2500.00 each year or be fined.
SAGM report -Synthia gave a brief update on some of the items discussed at the National SAGM.
- Youth Challenge is in it’s last year as it was decided at the SAGM to no longer put on this tournament for funding reasons as we are not receiving enough from the Bowling Federation
- Dave Post is heading up the new Coaching Clinics . There are going to be Training Courses put on to enable others to put on the new coaching courses and there is one slated for March in Toronto. It would cost approx $1000.00 to have someone attend and it was decided by our delegates not to send anyone yet
- Ernie Roggie Coach of the year- we need to start sending in names as we had 2 Gold Medal teams this past year and we did not submit any of the 3 coaches names. We decided to look at coaches names for submission to the C5 at our Sept meeting
- Record Scores need to start sending these in. Darrell agreed to post the Record Scores for our Province on the Website and submit our scores to C5 provided the houses submit the scores to him.
- 2009 is the 100th anniversary of bowling and they are going to be doing some special things for that year. One item is a special pin to be designed and they are having a contest for this with the winner receiving a Bowling Ball similar to the one given for the perfect game and the pin design will be encases in the ball plus a monetary reward.. They are also looking for Provincial History of 5 pin bowling from each province. Darrell Baily is going to look into this with some help from other members. Our sport of 5 Pin Bowling was 4th in the overall top Canadian Inventions.
- C5 signed an agreement with AIL and now all members are covered with an Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy for 2500.00. AIL has assured us that there will be “NO” high pressure sales to our bowlers. Also in Sept with the membership cards an AIL yellow card for beneficiary designation will be given to each member and for each one retuned to AIL the C5 will receive $1.00. AIL is also going to be giving out 2 $500.00 scholarships to be disbursed as the decides.
- Looking into a Unified Bowling registration
- Bowling Federation is now giving approx 50% to the 10 Pin side of things and C5 is looking at dropping out of the Federation.
- High Low Doubles National Tournament coming to Halifax we need Certified Score Keepers and Judge of Plays and we had to commit to C5 that we would put these clinics on. Tournament Date is April 26 29.
- Discussion was held regarding cancelling the Hi Low Nationals and replacing it with the Inter Provincial tournament. This would be voted on at a later date.
Next was the update on how things were progressing for our High Low Doubles National Tournament. So far it looks like the following schedule is in place subject to approval with the C5:
Thursday Arrivals all day will require help with Pick ups
Thursday Night Tour of a Naval Ship
Friday Morning - Tour of Peggy’s Cove
Friday Afternoon Bowling and dinner at Steak and Stein and then a free night for bowlers to try the Casino etc buses would take bowlers back to hotel at 11:00 PM
Sat conclusion of bowling and then banquet
Hotel being used is Holiday Inn on Kearney Lake Road.
We need someone to look after possible Media coverage and Gina Baily agreed to look after this as well as help with possibly obtaining treat bags. If anyone can get things for treat bags it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is able to do this we would need about 25 50 of each item. This is not mandatory for us to supply these treat bags but it would be great if we could.
A Scorekeepers clinic and Judge of Play clinic will be held date and time to be determined at a cost of $5.00 per clinic.
Next was call for election of 2007 Executive and this was postponed until Sept.
Next up was some discussion regarding fund raising and the Moosehead 50/50 draw. This is done as a draw and all organizations wanting to participate are put in a hat and drawn. We were not the lucky recipients but we are on a cancellation list and might still get that chance. This would help ensure that we raise the 2500,00 for Kids Help Phone.
Steve Feltham presented another proposal that he had and this was for a Hockey Playoff Pool. It would cost $20.00 and half the proceeds would go to the winners the other half to the NS5, KHP and house that sells the tickets. He would take care of it all and the members would just have to sell enough tickets. It was agreed that Steve would proceed with this plan with the following breakdown for prizes and funds. 50% to be split between top 3 at a ratio of 60% to #1 30% to # 2 and 10% to # 3. The other half would be split as follows: $5.00 to the house that sold the ticket $1.00 to KHP and $4.00 to NS 5 to help offset 0perating costs.
The remaining discussion was on our need to educate and communicate things to our bowlers so that they understand what it takes to run the association. The yearly expenses are as follows. This does not include the actual tournaments themselves which we try to make them self sufficient in that they cover their own costs
